I'm fundraising for LauraLynn by taking part in the Press Up Challenge this November
This November, I’m taking part in the November Press Up challenge to raise funds for LauraLynn, Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice. I’m taking on this challenge for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, will help to ensure that children and their families receive the care they need at all stages of their journey - from provision of specialist therapies, short breaks, to end-of-life care and bereavement support.
Support my challenge and help make the most of short and precious lives.
Thank you!

Why I’m Doing 5,000 Press-Ups for LauraLynn This November (and Why My Arms May Never Forgive Me)
Tuesday 28th OctThis November, I’ve decided to trade in my comfort, dignity, and the feeling in my triceps for something far more meaningful!
I’m taking on the 5,000 Press-Up Challenge for the LauraLynn Foundation.
Now, for those who haven’t heard of LauraLynn, it’s Ireland’s only children’s hospice, a truly incredible organisation that provides care, comfort, and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. They don’t just care for the child they lift the entire family through the toughest moments imaginable. And that’s why I’m more than happy to sweat a little (okay, a lot) for them.
The Maths (aka My Regret in Numbers)
When you first hear 5,000 press-ups, you might think, “That sounds doable.” Then you do the maths:
5,000 press-ups ÷ 30 days = 166.6 per day.
I’ll be doing 167 press-ups, which means:
- 167 opportunities to question my life choices
- 167 moments where gravity wins
- 167 reasons to donate to LauraLynn, because I’m clearly suffering for a good cause
Why LauraLynn?
LauraLynn provides specialised hospice care, palliative supports, and respite for families who need it most. They make every moment count, and they rely on donations to keep doing what they do.
I’ve always admired this charity, and the real impact they make every single day. If 5,000 push-ups can raise awareness and funds to help them continue that work, then I’ll gladly take the challenge (and possibly a new set of shoulders by December).
My Training Regimen (or Lack Thereof)
I’d love to tell you I’ve been training for weeks, eating kale, and living like a monk but in reality I’ve mostly been psyching myself up by watching Rocky montages and doing a half-hearted push-up while waiting for the kettle to boil, also saying ah I’ll start seriously tomorrow 🙄
Saying that I’m determined to get it done, A&E may keep a bed free.
How You Can Help
If you’d like to support LauraLynn or just pay for me to suffer please donate whatever you can to my fundraiser.
Every euro goes directly to helping the incredible kids and families who rely on the foundation.
And if you can’t donate, that’s okay too! Cheer me on, share the fundraiser, or just laugh at me😆 all of which are welcome.
Final Thoughts
5,000 press-ups might leave me tired, shaky and questioning my manhood but that’s nothing compared to the strength and resilience shown every day by the children and families that LauraLynn supports.
So here’s to sore arms, strong hearts, and making every push-up count. 💪
Many thanks,
Danny Hyland
