I'm fundraising for LauraLynn by taking part in the Press Up Challenge this November

This November, I’m taking part in the November Press Up challenge to raise funds for LauraLynn, Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice. I’m taking on this challenge for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, will help to ensure that children and their families receive the care they need at all stages of their journey - from provision of specialist therapies, short breaks, to end-of-life care and bereavement support.

Sunday 30th Nov
Last day of the challenge ! 
And of the donation.
I manage to squeeze some push ups.
I will still continue doing push ups.

Sunday 23rd Nov
The new challenge is 2000 push ups.
I have to be honest. I’m 600 push ups behind. That’s impossible whilst working at a bakery. But I can push to 2000. That’s more in my reach..

Tuesday 18th Nov
It’s hard. 
I don’t have the same stamina as before.
My arms hurt after 25 reps. Could only do 35 today. It’s hard because everyday that passes adds +100 to my already increasing backlog. 
This is a fight between me and my motivation. Can I keep doing the same amount of reps, even if I work ? 
I, deep down, want it. I want to be able to do it. To push my body further, stronger than before.

Monday 17th Nov
If I continue like that I can make it.
I just need to be able to do more 30 reps.
Myyy real goal is to do 50 reps one day. 
Imagine being able to do 4x50 reps in one day. Insane.
And amazing thing happened. 
Someone donated more than 200 €.
I’m oh so very grateful 🙏

Monday 17th Nov
160 push ups in two days.
It’s the day 17, I should be at 1700.
But yeah. We will get there eventually.

Wednesday 12th Nov
70 push ups today. 
Was my first day at the bakkery and it was mildly physical. I could have gone to sleep doing nothing, but decided to push myself.
It’s not because I’m working that I should slack off :)

1,117 push ups. Obsessed

Tuesday 11th Nov
I have to go back to Cork from France.
First time doing push ups in an airport.
I’m happy, because I’m really feeling good and strong. 💪 

I passed the 1000 this morning.
Did 25 in the morning, then 30 at the airport, and another 3 series of 25.
Now I need to finish the donation part of it all! 

On my way to 1000 !

Monday 10th Nov
Yesterday I did 102 and later 25 
I’m getting the hang of it.
I’m able to do 30 pushups in one go.
Today did 30, 25, 30, 25. That’s 110 ! 
That’s 695 + 127 + 110 = 932 
Yay !!

Sunday 9th Nov
Running late because I’m visiting my father.
Excuses excuses I guess. Today I need to do many more to go to 900 ! 
I need to do 205 push ups 😅

Give me strength people, I need it ! 

First time being able to do 25 push ups in one go

Saturday 8th Nov
Today was the first day ever I was able to do 25 sets of push ups in one go, which helps a lot to do only have to do four sets ! 

I felt a little sick from food, so I waited until now to complete the 100 daily push ups.

I now have pain near the elbow, around the downward triceps area. 

AM I TRANSFORMING?
I do need to say that I’m so grateful to be in good health. To be able to breath without assistance nor move. This reminds me, that every day I bless that I am able. Where some are not.

Thursday 6th Nov
Today, I had to catch up on the 80 push ups I didn’t do yesterday. 

We also went rope climbing with my flatmate. It helped to do something else with my body and have some newfound strength.

When coming home I was able to do 3 series of 20 push ups. I did another 20 after eating. My flatmate did another 25 with me.
And before sleeping I did another 20.
125 total. My arms are more defined now. Happy to get used to the motion 

Only 20 today : 420 (no, it is not a reference to Mary Joanna)

Thursday 6th Nov
I think the body needs rest. 
I pushed and pushed, but my shoulder and pecs just canno’t do that everyday.
Tomorrow I am going to go rope climbing so I’m preserving a bit of myself.
I’m sure I’ll be able to add some there and then. 
Remember folks, you can do something every day. But you do need a resting day.
Rest is as important as doing.

Wednesday 5th Nov
I filmed my whole progress. You can see it in my story @merlijn.bell.
I realised by filming and editing that I’m not good at counting and always added an extra push up.
Only manage to do 82 the 4th but that funnily amount to 400.

Monday 3rd Nov
Today was a slow day. 
I started late at 15:00 by doing 23
Then another 20 an hour later.
My roommate joined in for another 20.
We ate some French fondue and added another 2. 
Then I did 26. I was one short to 300.
And now we did it again for 19.

190 It is starting to hurt !

Monday 3rd Nov
My pectoral, triceps and shoulder are starting to hurt. The soreness is there. But I need to continue ! 
First 20 in the morning.
Then another 20.
Oh jee, only 15.
Let’s wait a few hours, now it’s 10.

It’s 22:00 I my body is aching. 
I’ll only manage 15 tonight.
My thought is that I’ll be able to catch up later in the challenge. 🤞🏻

First 100 done

Sunday 2nd Nov
Yesterday, I started the challenge, 3000 push ups in a months. 100 a day.
I did 20 push ups every two hours. 
The first 20 were easy.
The second not too bad.
The third were starting to hurt.
The fourth I barely did 15.
Then another 10.
And later in the evening I managed to squeeze the last 15.
